Alan R Jones
Alan R Jones is a practicing photographer who uses a broad range of photographic image making processes. As a commercial photographer he has worked with image libraries, book publishers and record companies. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Photography at Manchester School of Art, MMU.
The nature of Alan's research is based around the social structure of the domestic space and the confluence between contemporary anthropology and contemporary art. These are areas within which cultural meanings are made and debated. Both have specific sites of investigation in-common; cultural reproduction, gender, memory, the concept of non- space, an interest in the banal and the everyday. All work runs in conjunction with his interest in contact processes and non- silver printing; in turn, revealing the unseen through the process of employing scale and time.
